The rest of the deck is cantrips, counterspells and midrange beaters like Baneslayer to keep the pressure on my opponents.

The lands definitely need work and I would like to lose some of the colorless mana producers but the Fetches help a lot and Thawing Glaciers (while slow) also helps fix colors in a deck that wants triple red for Kiki-Jiki.Īnother portion of the deck is card engines like Keranos or Thassa which are hard to get rid of and keep my hand full (or at least keep me drawing the cards I want). I probably should be playing Deadeye-Navigator but I already have such a glut of 5 and 6 drops that i hesitate to do so. I'm testing Abbot of Kher Keep with Sensei's Divining Top to either gain some "card advantage" or to get rid of lands once I've curved out and just want more gas.
Karmic Guide gets back some creatures if they get binned. my curve tops out at Angel of Serenity which I like to have in the graveyard so I can make copies with Feldon and recur my creatures or bounce theirs. I also have Kiki-Jiki, Restoration Angel and Feldon to re-use their abilities. Archaeomancer, Warden of the Eye, Snapcaster and Izzet Chronarch are the core of that engine.
What i settled on is a pseudo-blink deck featuring creatures that recur stuff from the yard. Each one didn't have enough oomph to feel totally complete. I tried midrange aggro and I tried "more or less all spells" Control. I tried tokes with Shu Yun and Jeskai Ascendancy. I went down a couple of paths to try and fill the time between my first land drop and the point at which i assembled my combo. The central focus/ main win-con of the deck is the Splinter Twin/Kiki-Jiki combo but I found that in testing it took too long to assemble those two cards without access to Green's creature tutors. I'm playing Numot because he is a strong, evasive threat that has to be dealt with immediately. Numot begs for a LD deck but I have plenty of Stax decks built and I'm kind of sick of making my games a 3 hour durdle fest where everyone just watches me play with myself while i wait to topdeck my win condition. Zedruu has his donate thing, Narset has to play the "cheat Omniscience into play" game, Shu Yun requires too much work to be reliable in multiplayer and Ruhan is just too silly. i wanted a Jeskai deck that wasn't some rote "been done to death" archetype. I have been trying to make a Numot the Devastator deck for quite some time.
